October 2009
John Guth of Virginia took this bull on the second morning of his hunt. We had just tied up the horses to do a little glassing and I immediately spotted this bull and a group of cows below us on a bench. John was a couple of hundred yards away glassing and I caught his attention by waving my hat furiously. He hurried down to me and we watched the elk easing in and out of the scattered trees. The bull bugled a couple of times and then came out in the open and broadside to us. One shot and John had a really nice trophy.
