We offer 1 5-day muzzle loader elk hunt in unit 10 of the Zuni Mountains.  Elk are usually bugling in west central New Mexico this time of year, so this makes for a very exciting hunt!   We don’t use horses or mules here since this is a non-wilderness area.  4X4 vehicles, ATVs, and walking are our means of travel.  We call, spot and stalk, and still hunt over water and wallows to hunt these trophy bulls.

Black powder hunters can use In Lines, Sabots and scopes on there muzzle loaders.  Accommodations are tent camps that can be reached by vehicle and we provide one guide for every 2 hunters.  Success runs about 40% on trophy bulls and we take 4 hunters on this hunt.

These hunts are on a lottery system through the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish.  You can apply through their website at www.wildlife.state.nm.us.  The deadline for applying is APRIL 7, 2010.
